Itinerary

  • Begin your journey with a drive from Arusha to Momela Gate. After a brief registration, you'll embark on your hike with an armed ranger escort. As you walk, keep an eye out for wild animals such as elephants, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, and antelope. Arrive at Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight stay.

    • Elevation: 1,387 m to 1,500 m (4,921 ft to 4,921 ft)

    • Distance: 10 km

    • Hiking Time: 4-6 hours

    • Habitat: Montane Forest

  • Today’s trek takes you from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut, with a steep climb along the ridge offering spectacular views of the Meru Crater and the Ash Cone. Enjoy a hot lunch at Saddle Hut before a short climb to the summit of Little Meru (3,820 m) for breathtaking sunset views. Overnight at Saddle Hut.

    • Hiking Time: 3-5 hours

    • Habitat: Forest and Moorland

  • Begin your ascent around 1:30 a.m., climbing steeply to Rhino Point (3,800 m) and Cobra Point (4,350 m). Reach the summit (4,566 m) in time for sunrise, with a chance to see Kilimanjaro Peak above the clouds. The final section of the climb follows a spectacular narrow ridgeline between the crater's sheer inner cliffs and the sloping outer wall. After a short rest and brunch at Saddle Hut, descend to Momela Gate. A transfer will be waiting to return you to your hotel in Arusha.
