Itinerary

  • Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a Morning Glory team member will greet you and transfer you to your hotel, lodge, or hostel for overnight accommodation. Your head guide will meet you there for a briefing, gear check, and to assist with any equipment rentals you may need.

  • After breakfast, depart from Arusha for a scenic two-hour drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Along the way, we'll pass through the bustling market town of Mto Wa Mbu, a vibrant hub of local cultures and a paradise for souvenir hunters.

After a brief stop at the village market, we'll enter Lake Manyara National Park, a true photographer’s playground offering some of the best game viewing in the world. You can expect to see many of Africa’s iconic animals, with the tree-climbing lions being a particular highlight. These majestic predators often lounge in acacia trees, providing fantastic photo opportunities.

Bird-watchers will find Lake Manyara an absolute delight, with a wide variety of bird species on display. Even novices will be amazed by large flocks of flamingos, circling birds of prey, and the brightly colored lilac-breasted roller.

Your accommodation for the night will be at Omega View Lodge or a similar hotel.

  • We’ll take an early breakfast, as we’ve got a big day of exploration and adventure ahead of us!

Our day begins with a scenic drive towards the Serengeti, passing through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you might spot cape buffalo, baboons, elephants, or even leopards in the dense undergrowth.

The drive to the Serengeti park gates takes nearly four hours, but you can choose to break up the journey with one or both of the following optional activities:

    • Olduvai Gorge Museum: Known as the Cradle of Mankind, this museum showcases some of the oldest evidence of human habitation ever found. Here, you can see ancient fossils, learn about the human journey, and enjoy stunning views of the stark gorge landscape.

    • Maasai Boma Visit: Visit a traditional Maasai boma to witness and participate in traditional Maasai dance, tour an authentic Maasai village, and shop for souvenirs at the local market.

Both activities attract an additional cost. Speak with your safari expert about adding them to your itinerary.

After a delicious lunch at the Serengeti National Park picnic area, it’s time to explore the Serengeti itself. Marvel at Africa’s iconic savannah landscape and the vast number of animals roaming these grassy plains.

Dinner and overnight at Tukaone Tented Lodge or a similar hotel.

  • After breakfast, we will drive across the plains of Togoro and through the Mbuzi Mawe kopjes as we head towards the northern reaches of the park. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to experience the Serengeti’s diverse scenery, passing through wooded hills, tumbledown kopjes, and wide open savannahs. Your journey will showcase a variety of wildlife, from the diminutive dik-dik to towering elephants and giraffes.

Upon arriving in the Kogatende region, you’ll embark on a quest to witness the Wildebeest Migration and spot the renowned Big Five.

Accommodation will be at a tented lodge.

  • After breakfast, we'll begin our game drive around the Kogatende area, exploring the kopjes in search of carnivores and the large migration groups preparing to cross the Mara River into Kenya.

The Mara River, home to numerous hippos and Nile crocodiles, is the last major obstacle for the wildebeest migration before reaching the relative safety of the Masai Mara. With patience and a bit of luck, you may witness the dramatic river crossing, where wildebeest and zebras brave the currents and crocodiles in a daring attempt to reach the opposite bank.

Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in the heart of Serengeti National Park, with accommodations according to the standard and type you requested from our available options.

  • After breakfast, we'll embark on a scenic drive back to Ngorongoro Crater National Park. Our route takes us through a different part of the Serengeti, providing new opportunities to spot animals that may have eluded you earlier. You'll witness an impressive array of wildlife, from vast herds of wildebeests and zebras migrating together to the towering giraffes, agile antelopes and gazelles, majestic African elephants, and the esteemed predators.

Keep your eyes peeled for the sleek cheetahs, elusive leopards, foraging hyenas, and the regal lion, the king of the savannah.

Accommodation and overnight stay will be at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

  • After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World. As you take in the panoramic view of this vast, verdant caldera, you’ll quickly understand why it has earned such a lofty reputation.

Home to over 120 species of mammals, including the legendary Big Five, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the world's most sought-after safari destinations. Here, you have a great chance of spotting the endangered black rhinoceros grazing on the grass plains, and you can observe large groups of hippopotamuses enjoying the cool waters.

From the comfort of your open-top vehicle, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to observe and photograph some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. The crater hosts a variety of predators, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, alongside large populations of wildebeests, zebras, antelopes, cape buffalos, and more. It is truly one of Africa’s premier safari destinations.

After an exhilarating day, enjoy a picnic lunch by the park’s famous hippo pool before returning to your hotel or B&B in Arusha.

  • It's time to say goodbye, friend! Check out of your lodging and enjoy a convenient transfer to the airport. We hope to see you again soon!
